When not doing Plaid Cymru Youth work, how do you spend your time?
I’m working towards a PhD in Social Policy and Sociology, specifically looking at the problem of continuation in Welsh medium education. I am also a leader with the Rainbows (5 to 7 year old Girl Guides), a member of the University’s Octopush team, work part time in the library, and teach part time at the University.
You’re hosting a special dinner and you get to invite any four people in the history of the world to join you. Who are the four and why?
Emmeline Pankhurst, Isaac Asimov, J.K. Rowling, a Terry Pratchett. I’ll admit that every one of my choices has been inspired by books that I have enjoyed and which have made me think. I feel when reading Emmeline Pankhurt’s book that today we are still seeing many of the same problems and attitudes which she and her peers faced 100 years ago in many other areas other than women’s rights, and that we are failing to learn lessons in a way that they can be transferred to other aspects of life. I really enjoy Terry Pratchett, Isaac Asimov, and J.K. Rowling’s work because they discuss our society and people within fantasy world settings.
What made you join Plaid Cymru?
When voting in the past, I have always looked at the individuals with whom I agree, without paying much attention to their parties, because I feel that our politicians should consider the people who have elected them before the interests of their parties. From my experiences at home and at University I feel that the individuals within Plaid Cymru are more ready to use their own sense and that which is going to benefit the people they represent to make their decisions, before considering the interests of the party. I therefore feel that Plaid Cymru is better placed to represent people more locally on wider levels and nationally.
