A conference to remember!

On Saturday 14 April Plaid Ifanc held our national conference in Bangor university - and it was a conference to remember!

Joining us this year was Sian Gwenllian AM - Plaid Cymru member for Arfon. Thank you for her time and inspirational talk on the importance of young people, women and confidence in politics!

We had brilliant discussions on many policy areas including protest buffer zones, freedom for Catalan political prisoners, financial education, equality for transgender and non-binary peoples and political education.

Every motion was passed except one.

Every member will soon receive the details of motions passed and an updated version of the constitution.

We also had a fantastic presentation by Polly Manning - our women’s officer, on the history of feminism in the west and in Wales. It is available to download here.

Luke Fletcher from the Cardiff branch and our new campaigns officer also gave us a fantastic introduction to the consequences of Brexit to devolution. You can download it here.

Joining us also was our friends from Catalonia and Vento - Oriol Roig from JERC and Stefano Zambon from Sanca Veneta. Thank you to both of them for their company - it is important to develop a close relationship with our sister parties - not only to learn from them but to stand in solidarity too.

The conference was also a rather bittersweet one as one of our compatriots, Emyr Gruffydd, stood down as co-chair and an NEC member. Having volunteered with Plaid Ifanc for over a decade, we are in his debt. Diolch i ti am bopeth, Emyr.

We also elected a brand new National Executive Committee.

Kudos also to the gang who attended the protest against military intervention in Syria after the conference in the company of Hywel Williams MP, Sian Gwenllian AM and Liz Saville Roberts MP - and those who then campaigned in Bangor the day after. Thank you to the local Plaid Cymru branch in Arfon for their warm welcome.

Thank you to everyone for their hard work ensuring that Wales has a lively and vibrant political movement for young people - for freedom and social equality! Onwards
