To ban so-called “Conversion Therapy” in Wales
We in Plaid Ifanc support our Queer, Transgender, Nonbinary and Genderqueer siblings, and believe that Conversion Therapy is a horrific form of torture and indoctrination. Conversion Therapy has no medical or scientific basis, nor does it achieve the aims of its practitioners, an aim which is inherently evil. This is a practice which has also made a proven link to worsening mental health among its victims. LGBTQIA+ people should always feel safe, and able to live as their real and authentic selves within Wales, and as an active threat to this, Plaid Ifanc call for a ban on “Conversion Therapy” in all its forms, and call on the Welsh and UK Governments to do the same.
Minority Group Support
We in Plaid Ifanc reiterate our desire for an Independent, Feminist, Socially Just, Environmentally Sustainable and Tolerance Nation, where all citizens can reach their full potential, regardless of background. We believe that independence should be achieved in the broader context of a global struggle for rights, be those for stateless nations and people, women, trans and genderqueer peoples, sexual minorities and people of historically oppressed ethnicities.
Free School Meals for All
Plaid Ifanc believes that every child under the age of 16 in Wales should receive nutritious free school meals whatever their economic background, and push for an end to social stigma attached to receiving this service, by putting every child on equal ground, and helping to support our communities.
Equality for Trans and Nonbinary people in Wales
Plaid Ifanc believe passionately in Equality, and support all of our LGBTQIA+ siblings, particularly our Transgender, Nonbinary and Genderqueer siblings who are under attack from increasing Transphobia. We believe that everybody should have the right to be legally recognised , without a series of invasive and demeaning bureaucratic hoops, and that everybody should have a fundamental right to healthcare. We support the reform of the Gender Recognition Act, the establishment of a Welsh Gender-Identity Service and push for the education of all elected representatives regarding Gender Identity and the issues faced by Trans and Genderqueer people.
