Plaid Ifanc’s Christmas and New Year’s Message

The National Committee of Plaid Ifanc would like to wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all, in Wales and abroad. We stand with those in Wales suffering from social exclusion, poverty and domestic violence in Wales this Christmas. We would like to express our deepest solidarity with brothers and sisters across the world who are fighting against oppression, and we wish that 2018 be a prosperous year to all those who long for social justice and freedom. Our thoughts are especially with the thousands of refugees, exiled from their homes in Syria and Iraq and rejected by Western States.

We are thinking especially about of four political prisoners in Spain, simply for allowing the Catalan people to express themselves freely in a referendum - Oriol Junqueras, Joaquim Forn, Jordi Sànchez and Jordi Cuixart. It was an honour for 20 of our members to join the efforts to defend polling stations in October and we will continue to support the process of building the Catalan Republic this year.

Plaid Ifanc is already looking ahead to the new year. In January, Plaid Ifanc‘s latest campaign, The National Survey, will begin officially. Through this survey, we will discover the opinions of young people across Wales about our nation, and hear about the issues that matter most to them in day-to-day life. After Christmas, Plaid Ifanc members will be out on the streets of our towns and cities, gathering responses directly. However, in the meantime, the electronic version of the survey is now live! If you are under 30, you can complete our survey here.

Lastly, we hope that more people will join us in the fight against social injustice in 2018. As we think about the greed and the excesses that have come to symbolise the Christmas period, we must look for long term answers to solve the inequality and injustice that blights Western society and Wales especially. We in Plaid Ifanc are determined to radically change our country - join us in the fight!
