It was fantastic to have the company of a large number of Plaid Youth members in Cardiff last weekend for Plaid Cymru’s Summer School. It was a golden opportunity for members, from every corner of Wales, to come together to socialize, discuss politics, and line out the necessary steps that need to be taken in our battle from a free, just Wales.
A large number of sessions were organized, including former Plaid MP, Adam Price discussing the skill of Persuasion, a session on how to use social media effectively, and an exclusive opportunity to question Plaid’s Shadow Cabinet. Meanwhile, Saturday evening saw a special session for Plaid Youth members, offering an opportunity for everyone present to have their own input on our vision, activity and purpose as Plaid Cymru’s youth wing.
It wasn’t only Plaid Youth members who attended either- with representatives from all over Europe present. Gerard, Guillem, and Adrian from Catalonia, Valencia and Basque, as well as Gareth from Yorkshire, gave us a fascinating insight into their visions during the Plaid Youth session, as well as on a informal basis throughout the weekend, allowing us to share our dreams, experiences and solidarity for self-determination, and a fairer, freer World.
However, it wasn’t all politics, either- there was plenty of opportunities for socializing as well-including a quiz on the Friday night, and a Comedy night on Saturday…and of course a pint or two afterwards in the Bay!

“As someone who has never been before, I didn’t know what to expect. Though now I reflect on the weekend, I think Ysgol Haf was a fantastic opportunity to meet new members of the ‘Plaid family’, learn campaigning tips via politicians who have seen great electoral success like Patrick Grady, an SNP MP. But Ysgol Haf was just a lot of fun too; the quiz night on Friday, was a great opportunity to spend time with new friends I had made; and also the comedy night on the Saturday.”
