Elections
At our National Conference in Aberystwyth on Saturday 21st March 2015, we will be electing our new National Executive Committee for 2015-16. Any member of Plaid Cymru Youth can nominate themselves for a position on the NEC, and no previous experience is required!
The NEC is responsible for the day-to-day running of Plaid Cymru Youth, organising national campaigns and facilitating the activities of our local branches across Wales. There are a variety of positions available; you can find the job descriptions following this link.
As well as the specific remit of each role, every member of the NEC has full voting-rights on policy, campaigning and strategic decisions. In order to nominate yourself, please send an email to [email protected] clearly stating your name and the position you are running for. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply as we must ensure parity on our NEC.
Nominations for the above positions close on Thursday the 12th March.
Online Voting
This year, for the first time, our members will be able to vote for their favourite candidates on-line. Only current members of Plaid Cymru who are under 30 are eligible to vote in this election. If you would like to vote on-line, please register here: http://eepurl.com/bexv91
The deadline for registering to vote on-line is midnight on Sunday 15th March. Once your eligibility has been verified you will be contacted with details on how to vote.
If you’re not currently a member of Plaid Cymru, you can join the party here (so long as you join before March 15th you can vote in our elections!). If you’re not a member or you’re over 30 and would like to receive all the latest news from Plaid Youth, why not join our mailing list?
Commenting on the opening of nominations, our National Chair, Glenn Page said:
“We have been working hard over the past year to make Plaid Youth not just an effective campaigning organisation but a truly national movement for all young people.
The move to on-line voting is an exciting one. We’ve always sought to be as inclusive as possible. Voting on-line will allow every one of our members to have their say and I’m confident people will take advantage of that.
We are at a pivotal moment in the history of Plaid Youth, new branches are springing up across the country and more and more young people are joining our cause. The next NEC will lead our movement through the elections in May and lay the groundwork for the all-important National Assembly elections in 2016. That is why I am urging every member to consider standing for election; together we can build a movement that delivers a better Wales.”
